Matt Barnes Retires from NBA After 15 Seasons

Journeyman forward Matt Barnes announced his retirement after 15 seasons in the league.

On Monday, he posted a photo of himself posing before a mirror dressed in a pair of sweatpants, denim jackets and a pair of Vans shoes. He wrote that he had a very good 15-year run, and traveled the world and met a lot of people. He said some of his teammates will become his “brothers for the rest of my life.”

He added, “You telling me I can dress like this for business meetings & make more money off the court than I made ON?? & spend more time with my kids??!!Ha… MEEEEE the one that wasn’t suppose to be shit & ended up making it!! Let’s Do it!”

“Love me or HATE ME, I DID IT MY WAY!! “

However, Barnes retired after getting a free ride to the championship courtesy of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson.

The 37-year-old relished the role of a villain and enforcer during his playing years. He was also asked to guard the best perimeter player of the opposing team.

Off court, he was most famous for fighting Derek Fisher for reportedly dating his ex-wife, “Basketball Wives LA” star Gloria Govan. Apparently, his twin sons called him up to say that the former Los Angeles Lakers point guard was in the house with their mother.

“Barnes went crazy. He got in his car and went to the house and went after Fisher,” one alleged source told the New York Post. “Matt then drove down there to beat the s–t out of him.”

Barnes averaged 8.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists for his career. His best scoring year, however, was in 2012-2013 when he played for the Los Angeles Clippers. That time, he averaged 10.3 points, along with 4.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals.
