Justin Thomas could not help but laugh at the sight of a topless Tom Lovelady trying to think his way past the obstacle in the 17th hole.
Thomas posted on his Instagram a video of Lovelady going shirtless while looking at the camera. He clearly had a problem in his hands because the golf ball was halfway into the water. He captioned the clip, “Sometimes the money games require some serious decisions… @tom.lovelady made the most of this one on 17 at Medalist.”
Golfers are serious about getting the ball back into the green without getting dirty. In April this year, for instance, James Heath had to strip down to his white underwear in order to swing the ball from the mud at the Trophee Hassan II.
Even earlier, Shawn Stefani also stripped down during the Honda Classic when the ball hit the water.
In a series of tweets afterwards, the pro golfer for giving the audience more than they bargained for.
“Not sure if I should apologize for getting into my boxers today. Just fighting til the end to make the cut and that was my best option,” he wrote.
Later, he added, “Sorry if I offended anyone with this but I’m trying to do my job the best I can!”
Of course, Lovelady’s decision to take off his shirt was understandable considering what happened to Jesper Pavernik at Harbor Shores in May of last year. During the 16th hole, the pro golfer found himself in a bit of a bind. He swung and got a lot of mud on his shirt in return.
With Lovelady, he had to decide whether or not to accept the penalty during the money game against his roommate. Of course, based on the photos, he chose to take off his shirt to gain an edge.
