Cleveland Browns Earn Record of Finishing Season Without a Single Win

The Cleveland Browns enter the annals of ignominy as they failed to win a single game in a full NFL season.

The only team in history to have done it was the Detroit Lions back in 2008.

The Browns will have a chance to turn around their season next year as they have the first and fourth picks in the 2018 NFL Draft, where Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield will become one of the headliners.

The SECCountry mock drafts, however, have the Browns choosing another quarterback, Sam Darnold of the University of South Carolina, as their number one pick. For their fourth pick (via Houston), the team is projected to pick defensive specialist Minkah Fitzpatrick of Alabama.

When the NFL 2018 season rolls along, the Browns will have the same identity as owner Jimmy Haslam confirmed that coach Hue Jackson and general manager John Dorsey will return despite winning just one game in the last 32 games in the past two seasons.

“I remember standing approximately here last year and apologizing to our fans for the poor job we had done as owners, and I would just reiterate that again,” Haslam said. “Our record is unacceptable, and we accept full responsibility for that.”

For his part, Jackson said that he’s not stepping down despite the dismal record of the team in his two seasons in Cleveland. He said being a coach in the NFL is not for those with a weak constitution. He said a lot of the coaches in the NFL would have put up their hands and quit.

However, he’s not walking out of his players just because things are bleak. But Jackson said that next year would be different. “The only thing that’s going to change their minds is us turning this organization around and getting to winning,” he said.
