These beautiful twins are taking the modeling world by storm

Jaqi Clements was shocked when her twin daughters, Ava Marie and Leah Rose, were born prematurely. The twins were both healthy, but something about them caught their mom’s attention. The twin girls were absolutely gorgeous.

People began complimenting the girls’ beauty everywhere they went, saying they should be models. Jaqi knew her girls had something special, so she decided to see if modeling truly was meant for the twins…

Born too soon?

Parents can’t always predict exactly when newborn babies are going to arrive. Sometimes, they just decide to be born several weeks ahead of time. When Jaqi had twin girls on July 7, 2010, everything changed for her and her husband, Kevin. They knew there was something special about these girls.

It wasn’t just the girls’ beauty, but their personalities that made them so special. Jaqi later said, “They came four and a half weeks early but knowing their personalities now it makes total sense that they would show up early, unannounced, and ready to take on anything.” They were born ready.

Beautiful twins, Ava and Leah

The twins were so pretty that they almost looked like they were painted. Every feature about them looked perfectly sculpted. The girls knew this and it was reflected in their playful personalities. They loved to pose and show off. Although they were both different people, they looked like one in the same.

Ava Marie and Leah Rose were picture-perfect girls from infancy, constantly drawing compliments from family, friends, and even random strangers they would meet.

There was one common suggestion that the parents would receive from most of the girls’ admirers, especially when they started to grow up a little…

To model or not to model

People don’t always go out of their way to compliment other parents’ children. There usually needs to be a good reason for them to do that. In the Clements twins’ case, people just wouldn’t stop commenting on their looks and how pretty they were, saying one thing in particular:

Jaqi realized that a large number of strangers, in particular, said that Ava and Leah should be models. Obviously, she took that as a huge compliment to her daughters, but she also began considering the option. Shortly after, she decided that pursuing their modeling careers was actually a good idea.

It was difficult with three kids

Even though they were only six months old, Jaqi began to seriously consider getting Ava and Leah into modeling.

She found an agency in Los Angeles and signed them up as quickly as she could, but it wasn’t long before she ran into some significant difficulties.

Jaqi already had a two-year-old son who she was busy taking care of when she signed her daughters. She said after the fact, “It was hard enough to get out of the door most days so my attempt back then was short lived and I decided it just wasn’t the time.”

Briefly back to normal

Soon, Jaqi and her family were back to living a normal life, enjoying every minute of it. It just wasn’t the right time for her daughters to be put through a modeling career. She wanted them to be able to get as much out of life as they could early on.

As they aged, Ava and Leah continued to grow more beautiful and confident. They both were shaping up to be healthy and well-adjusted girls. The twins learned important social skills and spent quality time with their parents and older brother. But soon, it was time for another big change.

The girls get a say

Ava and Leah had only modeled for three months when they were six months old. Jaqi believed that the girls should take the reigns to decide on whether or not they should pursue modeling. Mom just wanted the girls to be happy on whatever path they chose.

So Jaqi waited until they grew up a bit and then waited a bit more. She finally asked her girls what they wanted to do. She had her own hopes, but it was up to Ava and Leah.

Did they want to model or was there a different path they wanted to take?

It was still too early

The girls were still only toddlers, so Jaqi and Kevin weren’t sure about what they should do. Waiting seemed like the option they needed to take, but they couldn’t decide. So they did wait it out, at least until the twins could articulate what they wanted.

They didn’t want to force their daughters into something they might regret or resent later on. So they waited and loved their daughters as best as they knew how.

Was it the right call, or did they regret their decision to let the girls decide what to do about modeling?

The number 7 pointed the way

Ava and Leah were born on July 7, 2010, which didn’t seem like destiny at first glance. But, as the girls continued to age, Jaqi realized that there might be some meaning behind her daughters’ birth date… or maybe it was just plain old coincidence that the date, July 7, was 7/7.

In addition, the twin girls would turn seven years old on July 7, 2017. They would turn seven on seven, seven, seventeen. It was too perfect. She felt like that was the day of destiny, so she waited until that date for the big moment, when she would ask them.

Busy girls

The girls finally reached age seven, but they were already really busy with other activities and their own lives. They had passions of their own and participated in both swimming and dance. Jaqi wasn’t sure if they were up for another thing to add to their list of things to do.

But she decided that it was finally time. Jaqi later said, “I presented my idea to the girls that, if they were up for it, in addition to their dance classes and swim team practices they had every week, they could give modeling a try.”

What did Ava and Leah think about the idea?

The fateful question

The girls were known for their performing spirit, no matter who the audience was. They already liked to show off for everyone. Jaqi isn’t sure why this is or who they got that from, but she enjoys it nonetheless. Modeling didn’t seem like it would be out of their comfort zone.

Jaqi finally posed the question to her twin daughters and hoped for the best. The girls reacted really positively when their mom asked them to model. They both said “yes.” Jaqi said, “I was not surprised at all when they started jumping up and down and couldn’t wait to begin!”

It’s modeling time!

It turns out, Jaqi and the girls picked a really good time. It was the perfect time to start their modeling careers for real. Jaqi’s neighbor was in need of a couple girl models for her children’s boutique. The trio jumped at the timely opportunity to model.

She said, “…I needed some new photos if I was going to get them an agent so I figured this would be a great opportunity for all of us.” They applied for the modeling gig and ended up getting the job! They were all excited about the chance to model.

Playing it slow

Even though they took the job, Jaqi didn’t want to overwhelm her daughters with dozens of photo shoots. She also didn’t want to bombard them with a bunch of makeup, bright outfits and all the glamour and attention that comes with modeling. Mom still wanted her girls to have relatively normal lives.

So what did she do? “I dug out my 10-year-old Nikon camera from a bin in the garage, put a few waves in the girl’s hair, dabbed on a little blush, and out we went to take some pictures,” Jaqi said.

She knew they would be more comfortable with their own mother in the beginning.

Learning the basics

As she expected, the girls didn’t naturally know how to pose for the camera. No one is born knowing how to model and the girls were no exception. So Jaqi eased the girls into it, teaching them how to behave in front of the camera and act like real models.

Looking back, Jaqi said, “Ava would look at the camera while Leah would stare off into space… Leah would accidentally bump into Ava who, of course, thought it was on purpose and would shove her back.” She was prepared for things to slowly progress as her girls learned the modeling process.

Finding an agency for the girls

Jaqi and Kevin thought it was time to find an agency for the girls now that they were older and more experienced, posing for the camera. The Clements were all in with the girls’ modeling careers. They just weren’t sure if any agencies would be interested in Ava and Leah.

“I still had a handful of contacts, so I decided to start there,” Jaqi said. “To my surprise, I heard back from almost every single one asking to set up a time to meet the girls.”

Despite signing on with two different agencies, things didn’t go smoothly for the girls and their family.

Preparing for trouble and making it double

After signing with both agencies, it was time for the girls to really shine and show their talent to the world. The girls were excited to get their careers going. Mom figured that being part of two different agencies would mean twice the payoff for the twins.

Their first agency got the girls an audition with Barbie, which was a big deal due to Barbie’s popularity and their demographic. But then, they got a phone call from the second agency, saying they booked the same audition the next day. Things luckily got cleared up when she told talked to them.

Taking to social media

Instagram is a great place for people to share photos with the possibility of blowing up in popularity. Jaqi knew this and thought it would be an amazing idea to start posting pictures of her girls there.

She picked out  “@clementstwins” as their handle and got to work.

Jaqi started out only using Instagram as a portfolio for her daughters’ pictures and for exposure. She wasn’t an Insta pro, so she wasn’t sure how popular her girls would get or how helpful it’d be. But as she continued to post pics, something amazing started to happen.

Jaqi becomes an Instagram pro

Beautiful Twins

Jaqi started following other accounts, picking up on how Instagram worked. Before long, she got the hang of how the social media platform could be utilized. It wasn’t only her daughters’ beauty that pulled in followers, but the quality of the photos she picked.

She even had some advice for people trying to gain a following: “One thing I know for sure if it’s ALL about the pictures… so don’t settle for an average photographer because you want to save a few dollars.”

Before she knew it, Jaqi’s girls had more than 300,000 followers on Instagram!

Their fame began taking off in 2017

Jaqi had a good feeling about 2017. “Aside from the fact that I’m a huge believer in signs and have been told by almost everyone that 7 is a lucky number, I just had a feeling that this year was going to be a fun and exciting year for them,” she said.

She felt that this would be true not just for her girls, but the rest of her family. Something tugged at her, giving her the idea that good things were coming their way. And that turned out to be true. Her son was the next one to experience this.

Chasing after fame

It turns out Ava and Leah’s older brother, Chase, had some of his own modeling blood in him too. Before long, he was also signed on to the same agency as his sisters. But modeling wasn’t the only thing he was good at; he had other talents under his belt.

Chase also had quite a knack for acting. The young actor started early, getting in front of the camera for a few commercials. He wasn’t going to be left behind by his beautiful twin sisters, who continued to rise in fame, as they continued modeling.

Jobs on jobs on jobs

With their Instagram following growing every day and reputation quickly spreading to the modeling world, people began taking notice… important people.

Job offers began pouring in like no one had expected and, before long, Ava and Leah were working on six jobs in a week!

At only seven years old, you’d think even they would get tired of this much work. Even though kids have plenty of energy at that age, they can only take so much. But the girls kept continued to work, taking on even more modeling jobs. They weren’t slowing down anytime soon.

Modeling is a tricky business

Before getting into the business with her daughters, Jaqi wasn’t very familiar with the ins and outs of modeling. But she and the girls began to learn as they took on more jobs and gained experience in the industry. Some of it from trial and error, and some of it from the experiences of others.

The most important takeaway was knowing who to work with and who to stay away from.

There wasn’t an easy formula but, like any good mom, Jaqi wanted to make sure Ava and Leah were safe and protected. Still, there were some difficulties they couldn’t escape.

Traffic jam

The family soon realized that they would spend many hours in their car, driving from job to job. Though they came to accept this reality, it still took a toll on Jaqi and the girls. But they endured, continuing to go to gigs and work on their modeling.

But then the traffic began to get really out of hand with travel lasting as long as six hours in the car every day they worked. Despite the long hours, they continued to work hard. They even learned some things about themselves and who to seek out for guidance.

Picking their battles

Even when Jaqi and the girls got used to the flow of modeling, they still had to be on the lookout for the right contacts and safest gigs. Jaqi didn’t want her twins to have too many bad experiences, and she certainly didn’t want to put them in any danger.

Jaqi learned how to find out which people to trust and which ones to pass up. It was a difficult process, but one that she needed to learn, especially considering the age of her twin daughters. They were still young and developing their personalities; and they were internet stars, after all.

Toxic comments

Because the girls had their own personal Instagrams and began to gain traction, it wasn’t long before mean people began commenting. It’s just the way things happen on online. Despite all the positive feedback they were getting, Jaqi had a rough time learning to deal with the toxicity.

But Jaqi and her family did learn to cope with the stress of negative comments. She had one specific way of dealing with haters, replying to them, “If you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all.” It worked, but people still lashed out.

Comments about their appearance

Ava and Leah have received too many negative comments to count. One common thing that people comment about the twin girls is that they supposedly look sad in most of their pictures. This may not seem like the worst thing for people to say, but they go further than that.

Commenters tie the serious expressions to the idea that their parents are forcing them to model, which couldn’t be further from the truth. The girls love modeling, and their mom supports them in it. The girls look the way they do, because it’s the desirable modeling pose in most cases.

Make up your mind

Since modeling is focused on appearance, the family mostly gets comments about that. One of the most popular questions Jaqi gets from people is if the girls wear any makeup. People are incredibly opinionated about this topic, and Jaqi has strong ideas about it too.

Jaqi states, “ln most every job the girls book through their agency, or any professional photo shoot they attend, there is a hired hair and makeup artist on set. Why!? Because that’s how the industry works.” Mom certainly knows the industry better than the people who leave those comments.

“Just let the girls be kids” is something Jaqi is probably tired of hearing by now. The number of people who tell her and her husband that is staggering. Jaqi isn’t a fan of it, because she has a different perspective on the girls’ involvement in professional modeling.

Mom informs those people about her daughters’ passion for modeling, and that she isn’t forcing them to do anything. They enjoy it, and she’s happy to help her girls achieve their dreams. People don’t always understand that, but Jaqi does her best to not let those comments get to her.

Modeling is pricey

Despite what some people may think about the family and their modeling careers, it didn’t just instantly make them rich. The Clements had to invest a lot of time and money into the girls’ venture, not to mention the food and gas expenses for all the time spent on the road.

Jaqi and Kevin have a bright view on it: “I guess if you really put it all into perspective, the money we as parents put out now… will allow them to make their own money they can use towards college or a car or a house in the future.”

How many followers?!

Modeling has paid off big time for the family in many ways so far. One way you can tell is by looking at their Instagram page. With every photo they post, they gain thousands of likes and follows.

Can you guess how many followers Jaqi has amassed for her precious twin girls?

They’ve gained well over 1 million followers and are making their way to 2 million!

Of course, the number of followers you have doesn’t automatically mean that you are successful, but it sure is a good indicator. The most important thing is that the girls and their family are happy and having fun.

Just normal kids

Ava and Leah take part in many other activities and go to school like other girls their age. Jaqi says that they aren’t much different from other children. They fool around, listen to music, and show the same emotions as other kids. They also do extracurricular activities at times.

Both of the girls are invested in dancing, swimming, school, and they even find time to play like any other kids, which is why Jaqi isn’t thrilled by people telling her how to parent her children.

At the end of the day, it is mom who knows what is best for her girls.

New friends

Jaqi loves to see how her daughters make new friends in their industry. It can be a brutal social environment based on beauty and all any mom really wants is for her kids to be decent human beings at the end of it all.

“[They] meet a new ‘friend’ for 10 minutes at an audition or a shoot and are already asking me if this new friend can be their cousin, because a simple friendship just doesn’t quite express the love they have for their new friend.”

The downside of the industry

In the modeling world, there is a history of women being treated poorly, so Jaqi is always on the lookout for her daughters and that they are being treated with respect. Jaqi took to her blog to explain how she felt about this.

“This by far has been one of the most stressful, upsetting, mind-boggling, and biggest lessons I’ve learned in this industry so far.”

They love what they do

Despite being a cautious mother, both of her twins absolutely love what they do and get excited beyond reason before each and every shoot. They know they live an exciting life and they love it.

“They like the new adventures we go on every week, never knowing where we will end up but looking forward to a new experience,” Jaqi explained.

Keeping what is important in mind

Jaqi took on the manager role for her daughters so she can always have their best interest in mind and at heart as they grow up in what some perceive to be a hostile environment.

The family is always looking forward to the next stage, and they know that the decision will always land at the feet of the twins. For now, they are very much enjoying their life as part of the modeling world.

Taking after their parents

Despite how beautiful these twins are, they aren’t alone in this family. They had to get their good looks from somewhere to find the kind of success they’ve found in the modeling world.

Well, as you can see, their parents are both just as gorgeous!
