AJ McCarron only had one target this 2018 NFL offseason. He was looking to get his own record out and step away from shadows of quarterback Andy Dalton. McCarron was also looking for a team that would be his starting company. NFL’s free agency proved to be a good harbinger as he found his perfect match, the Buffalo Bills.
The NFL quarterback says on the Buffalo Bills site, “It’s always tough just because you’re a competitor, but at the same time you’ve just got to trust God’s plan. You really do. I know it’s easier said than done, but we prayed and put faith in Him and everything works out for a reason. We’re just super excited to be here, to be part of this organization and help this team win.”
McCarron’s statement came in after he patiently waited for the decisions from his agent. NFL quarterback free agents were being sent to their new homes while he waited patiently on the side. But being picked by the Bills, he says that this would be a great opportunity to show the NFL organization what he’s got and this would be his “chance to compete for a starting job.”
Together with Nathan Peterman, they are the only quarterbacks signed for the team as of now. He signed a two-year pro, $10 million contract which also includes incentives and raises his annual payout of around $6 million more. The former Alabaman says that the chance to start a career with the Bills has led him to sign the contract.
Bills Wire also featured the story with the quarterback saying, “I thought it was just a great opportunity for me to come up here and be able to compete for a starting job and that’s all you can ask for in this league.”
He also went and added, “It wasn’t about the money, and it wasn’t about anything. My background, I come from absolutely nothing, so I’ve always just known ball.”
