Little Caesars just made the huge upset recorded by 16th-seed University of Maryland-Baltimore County over the top-ranked University of Virginia a little less bitter to swallow.
Would a free pizza make the pain go away?
On March 16, the official Twitter account of the fast food chain announced, “Because “CRAZY HAPPENED” with a #16 beating a #1 (!!!!), everyone in America gets a free #LittleCaesars Lunch Combo on Monday, April 2nd.
According to the mechanics, people who want to avail of the freebie don’t need to make any purchase. They will get four slices of deep-dish pepperoni pizza along with 20-oz. Soda (any Pepsi product). The promo period will last between 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. only on April 2 on any Little Caesars participating stores in 50 states.
“To qualify, you must place your order no later than 1:00 p.m. (local time),” the promo rules said. “If you place your order afterwards, even if you were in line at 1:00 p.m. (local time), the offer will have expired and will not be fulfilled.”
The free pizza and soda will be limited to one for each family. Employees, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, franchisees, and their families and relatives are prohibited from availing the promo.
The Twitter post by the company was shared more than 8,000 times.
One commenter remarked, “I just had your stuffed crust pizza today and needless to say, I have the sh*ts. Will probably still take you up on that though.”
Another said, “Can you write ‘UMBC’ in pepperonis on mine?”
The UMBC upended the University of Virginia on Friday and the score wasn’t even close at 74-54. It was the first time in the more than a 100-year history of the NCAA basketball tournament where the bottom feeder in the do-or-die match was able to dislodge a top-ranked team.
