Lakers lost the game again to Denver Nuggets last Friday with a score of 125-116 and Coach Luke Walton was seen cursing at Jamal Murray. The Lakers’ coach was not upset at how the game turned out, but because he said the Nuggets guard was ‘disrespectful’ towards his players.
ESPN featured the news and Walton says, “I felt like for the second time we played here, Murray was being a little disrespectful at the end of the game.” Although he did not provide any specifics about Murray’s behavior, he went on and added, “Just some trash-talking towards our guys.”
The Friday incident happened when Murray was seen shouting in Ball’s direction after the game.
The second incident might have been an offshoot of an episode last December 2 game season where Murray was seen dribbling out of the clock around Lakers’ point guard Lonzo Ball. This first incident upset some of Ball’s teammates including Julius Randle.
Ball told CBS Sports that Murray did a ‘punk move’ and the Lakers did not forget the previous incident Jamal Murray did his late-game antics. He added, “I don’t know, I don’t really worry about Jamal Murray. Like I said, ain’t nobody worried about him. He going to do the circus stuff. I’m not feeding into it”.
The Lakers and Nuggets will have another face off match to get a spot on the playoff this season. The event will be held this Tuesday at the Staples Center. Ball says he “can’t wait” for the next game.
Murray had a strong performance last Friday’s game leading the team with 22 points, 4 steals, and 8 assists. He told ESPN that he wasn’t even looking at the Lakers’ coach and he “wasn’t talking to nobody.”
He adds, “You know, we are playing for a playoff spot. We just came off two bad losses and we had to go out there and play with a little fire, and I guess the other team took it to heart.”
